What happens in a reiki treatment
What to expect
When you arrive for your first Reiki session, you will receive a warm welcome and be invited to complete a brief, confidential form with your details and the areas of wellbeing you wish to focus on. This allows me to personalise your Reiki therapy so it supports your unique goals and intentions.
You will then settle comfortably on a Reiki couch or in a seated position, fully clothed at all times. I will place my hands lightly on specific points around your head and the front of your body to facilitate the gentle flow of Reiki energy. This natural energy moves intuitively to where it is needed, encouraging deep relaxation and energetic balance.
Reiki is often experienced as a calming, restorative practice that nurtures harmony within the body, mind, and spirit.
If you prefer a hands-off Reiki treatment, I will hold my hands approximately 10 cm above your body, allowing the energy to flow without direct touch.
Throughout the session, you may notice warmth, tingling, coolness, or a soothing sense of ease. Some people drift into a meditative state, observe colours or shapes, or feel subtle emotional shifts. At times, sensations may temporarily intensify as your system adjusts. You will have a moment to relax quietly before gently sitting up.
Reiki involves no massage, pressure, or physical manipulation, and no intimate areas are ever touched. As a holistic practice, Reiki is not used to diagnose any condition.
At the end of your treatment, we will take a few minutes to reflect on your experience—any sensations, emotions, or insights that came up during the session. This can help deepen your awareness of your personal energetic patterns and wellbeing.
To support your ongoing balance after the session, you will be encouraged to rest, stay hydrated, and allow the energy to integrate over the following days.
